can participate in the Get Caught Reading campaign. Below are some

pictures and stories of their Get Caught Reading experiences.

Reading celebrities for display in your schools.

Use Get Caught Reading

Dedicate a half hour each
day to reading and call it "Get Caught Reading Time."
Take pictures of students
and people in the neighborhood who were caught reading and
post them on bulletin boards. Click here to download the logo

Set up a Get Caught Reading
event in your community, and invite local radio and television
personalities and other community figures to read aloud to
children.
The principal from one
school randomly visits students' homes and gives an award to
those who are "caught reading!"
Set up a Get Caught
Reading book discussion club which could meet after school
or on weekends.
Set up a club where
children and adults read the same book and compare their
feelings on it.
Ask children to draw their
own version of someone or something that "got caught
reading," and post drawings on bulletin boards. One student
in New Jersey got her picture displayed on a billboard!
One teacher gave her
students disposable cameras and asked them to take pictures
of other students who were "caught reading."
