Get Caught Listening at BEA
The 2011 BookExpo America conference was an exciting time for librarians and booksellers alike. At "The Heard Word: BEA's Annual Audiobook and Author Tea" on May 25, 2011, over 100 librarians from across the country gathered to celebrate the spoken word and hear from terrific authors about the importance of audiobooks.
The event was sponsored by the Audio Publishers Association and hosted by Star Jones, who referred to audiobooks as "the actual reason I ended up writing my first piece of fiction." Participating authors included Karin Slaughter (FALLEN), Brad Meltzer (THE INNER CIRCLE), and Tony Horwitz (MIDNIGHT RISING), who spoke about the potential of audiobooks to expand the reading experience.
